2026 Miami Marlins Draft Tracker: Picks & Bonuses

A University of Miami commit, Jacob Lombard comes from an excellent baseball family. His dad, George, played six seasons in MLB. He’s currently the bench coach for the Detroit Tigers. Jacob’s older brother, George Lombard Jr., was a first-round pick by the New York Yankees in the 2023 MLB Draft. According to MLB Pipeline, George Jr. entered this season as the top-ranked prospect in the Yankees organization.

At the plate, Lombard has the ingredients to be a very productive hitter at the next level with excellent tools and a high baseball IQ. His plate discipline and approach are at a much higher level than most of the prep prospects in this draft class. However, he does have some swing-and-miss to his game and struggled with high velocity over the summer. Lombard has already started to fill in his frame by adding solid weight. His power has improved and that tool received a 60 grade from Pipeline.

Defensively, Lombard shouldn’t have any issues sticking at shortstop. He’s an excellent athlete with soft hands and great range. His arm strength does have some room for improvement, but that should continue to come as he matures physically.

Lombard is also one of the fastest runners in this draft class. According to Perfect Game, he was clocked running a 6.11 60-yard dash.

After helping his high school win an Oregon state title in 2023, Kleinschmit went the junior college route, spending a year and earning All-American status at Linn-Benton Community College. He made a seamless transition into Oregon State's rotation in 2025, striking out 11.2 K/9 and holding hitters to a .194 batting average. More success pitching on the weekends for the Beavers could help him be one of the first college lefties to come off the board in July.

During his first season in Corvallis, Kleinschmit showed the ability to fill up the strike zone with three pitches. While he won't overwhelm anyone with pure stuff, he makes up for it with movement and feel for pitching. His fastball typically sat in the 90-93 mph range in 2025, topping out at 95 mph, with good tailing life and scouts wonder what an uptick in velocity might do for his profile. He has good rotation and depth with his upper-70s slurvy slider to go along with decent feel and deception with his low-80s changeup. Kleinschmit has a solid starting pitcher's foundation with his pitch mix and ability to be around the zone.

This is the third consecutive year that the Marlins have used an early-round pick on an Oregon State player (previously Aiden May in 2024 and Aiva Arquette in 2025).

Peterson recorded an immaculate inning during his first college start in 2024 and has been Sam Houston's Friday night starter the last two seasons. Big league clubs had interest in signing him as a sophomore-eligible last year, but he turned down their overtures and went undrafted. His feel for spin and delivery metrics could allow him to join 1984 second-rounder Kevin Renz as the highest-drafted pitchers in Bearkats history. Peterson owns one of college baseball's best curveballs, a high-spin 79-82 mph hammer, and ratchets up the rpms on a solid low-80s slider as well. He also imparts high spin rates on a 91-94 mph fastball that tops out at 96, and it plays up a bit thanks to shape, command and deception. He barely uses a mid-80s changeup that needs a lot of work.

If Peterson threw harder, he might have been a first-rounder. He's an athletic mover who gets down the mound well, creating plenty of extension from a low release height. He not only throws strikes with all three of his primary offerings, but he also locates them well, enhancing his mid-rotation profile.

Scouts appreciated Kozeal's bat-to-bat skills and high baseball IQ when he ranked as Nebraska's best high school prospect in 2023, but his lack of another standout tool and his Vanderbilt commitment left him undrafted. He spent most of his time at DH with the Commodores in 2024 and at first base after transferring to Arkansas as a sophomore before playing shortstop to plug a gaping hole for the Razorbacks this spring. He has traded some contact for power in college and teams still love his makeup, so he could go as early as the third round. Sturdily built at 5-foot-10 and 205 pounds, Kozeal hits balls hard and has good feel for driving balls in the air with his quick, compact left-handed stroke. He once projected as a plus hitter, but he's now more of an average bat with 15-20 homer pop. He has a sound approach but chases fastballs much more than he should and struggles with sliders.

Kozeal's instincts help him play better than his fringy speed and arm strength on the bases and in the field. That said, he's not much of a threat to steal and lacks the arm and range to play shortstop at the next level. He fits best at second base, where he saw action in each of his three college seasons, and projects as a dependable and adequate defender there.

During his final season with Auburn, Guevara slashed .322/.399/.533 with 78 hits, 12 doubles, 13 HRs, 55 RBIs, and a .932 OPS.

The 21-year-old is a native of Panama.

Sasaki was the top-rated high school player in Japan who would've been eligible for the 2024 Nippon Professional Baseball draft. Instead, he made the highly unorthodox decision to play collegiate ball in the United States and fast-track his journey to the majors.

In his sophomore season with Stanford, Sasaki slashed .262/.403/.549 with 54 hits, 16 homers, 47 RBIs, and a .952 OPS. His raw power is plus-plus.

Sasaki is a massive physical specimen with elite power potential. Already posting exit velos of 115+ mph.

With two more years of college eligibility remaining and an opportunity to sign with NPB's Fukuoka Softbank Hawks, Sasaki has some leverage in negotiations with the Marlins.
