    Scouting Report

Pre-draft rankings: fifth on Baseball America, sixth on MLB Pipeline, fourth on FanGraphs, fifth on Just Baseball

Viewed by many as the top college bat in the class, Arquette became a premium transfer portal talent after a strong 2024 season at Washington where he hit .325/.384/.574 with 12 home runs, 14 doubles, a 17.5% strikeout rate and a 7.4% walk rate. Arquette took his talents to Oregon State for his 2025 draft campaign, where he slid from second base to shortstop for one of the nation’s top programs.

Arquette has a major league body at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds and finished the season as a .354/.461/.654 hitter with a career-best 19 home runs and a career-low 16.5% strikeout rate. Arquette is a free and easy right-handed swinger whose above-average bat speed from his strong frame leads to comfortably plus raw power. He has the ability to drive the baseball to all fields and has always shown impressive pull-side power that has come with its share of swing-and-miss tendencies. Arquette did a nice job improving his approach in 2025 and demonstrated improved plate discipline that led to a 12.6% walk rate—the best mark he’s had in a complete college season.

Arquette moves well for his size, but he’s more of a solid runner underway and has never been much of a base-stealing threat. He’s more likely to slow down in the future as he continues to add mass to his hulking frame. Defensively, Arquette has shown an ability to handle shortstop and potentially stick there. He has a plus, accurate arm that fits nicely on the left side of the infield, where he prefers to throw from a lower slot and has reliable hands. He has experience at second, but might profile best as a slugging third baseman if he needs to move.

    Scouting Report

Pre-draft rankings: 27th on Baseball America, 36th on MLB Pipeline, 29th on FanGraphs, 40th on Just Baseball

Cannarella was the 2023 ACC freshman of the year after a season in which he hit .388 with 24 stolen bases. He had another lights-out season in 2024 when he upped his home run total from seven to 11 while playing through a shoulder injury that put the brakes on his baserunning. Cannarella had labrum surgery before the 2025 season and once again hit well over .300 as a junior and is a career .360/.453/.551 hitter.

A thin-framed, six-foot center fielder, Cannarella stands out for his athleticism, defense and hitting chops. He has an open stance and a noisy setup with his hands, but generally makes high-quality swing decisions with above-average contact ability that leads to sharp line drives to all fields. He’s very much a hit-over-power offensive player who didn't hit any balls over 400 feet as a junior and might never hit many more than 10 home runs per season in pro ball.

Cannarella is an excellent center fielder who uses his plus speed and standout instincts to track down balls in the gaps and make spectacular catches. His arm is a lingering concern. He’s not back to 100% and might wind up with a well below-average arm when he’s fully recovered.

    • Slot Money: $2,128,800

    Scouting Report

Pre-draft rankings: 41st on Baseball America, 47th on MLB Pipeline, 105th on FanGraphs, 56th on Just Baseball

Compton had an immediate impact as a freshman with Arizona State in 2024, when he hit .355/.427/.661 with 14 home runs and 16 doubles to win Pac-12 freshman of the year. That summer he also hit well in the Cape Cod League for Cotuit and entered his 2025 draft-eligible season with lofty offensive expectations. He regressed a bit and slashed .278/.383/.498 with nine home runs and 18 doubles.

Compton has tons of strength and power packed into his barrel-chested, 6-foot-1, 225-pound frame. He has a relatively short and compact left-handed swing that can generate easy plus raw power and 90th percentile exit velocities around 110 mph. He shattered MLB Draft Combine records for both average and max exit velo. While Compton’s power is obvious, his approach can often be a bit too boom-or-bust. He hit well out of the gate in 2025, but his approach regressed as the year progressed. At times he can both expand the zone and swing-and-miss too frequently. He hit just .139 against fastballs thrown 93 mph or harder and will need to sharpen his pitch recognition and bat-to-ball skills versus spin. Compton has some on-base skills and owns a respectable 13.2% career walk rate.

There’s plenty of pressure on his bat because Compton is a high-probability left fielder who is just a fair runner, thrower and defender.

    Scouting Report

Pre-draft rankings: 92nd on Baseball America, 81st on MLB Pipeline, unranked on FanGraphs, 82nd on Just Baseball

Williams started his career with Alabama, where he hit .320 in 16 games as a freshman in 2023. He transferred to Florida State for two seasons and settled in as the team’s everyday center fielder and three-hole hitter in 2025. He’s hit over .300 in each season of his college career and owns a career .316/.389/.585 slash line with 33 home runs, an 18.5% strikeout rate and a 7.8% walk rate.

Williams stands at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, but has a smaller zone than his height would suggest thanks to a crouched and spread batting stance. It’s an odd look, but one that leads to lots of hard contact and exit velocities up to 115 mph. Williams is an aggressive hitter. He likes to frequently swing the bat, both on pitches in the zone and often on pitches beyond it. He has fringy pure contact skills and his inability to hold back on secondary pitches out of the zone means he doesn’t walk too frequently.

Williams is a solid runner who can turn in an above-average time here and there, but he’s not a burner and has never been active as a base-stealer. He could be a fair defender in center, but with his speed he might fit better in a corner, and his above-average arm strength could make right field an option.

    Scouting Report

Pre-draft rankings: 248th on Baseball America, 158th on MLB Pipeline, unranked on FanGraphs, 141st on Just Baseball

The son of former Brewers and Red Sox minor league Adam Faurot, Drew is a switch-hitting middle infielder who started his career with UCF, where he hit three grand slams as a freshman. He transferred to Florida State for the 2024 and 2025 seasons and has made strides at the plate. He has historically been better from the left side, but Faurot was actually slightly better as a right-handed batter in 2025 and hit .333/.405/.712. Faurot has above-average power, and at least with a metal bat, it’s been all-fields power from both sides of the plate. He’s always been an aggressive hitter and he will chase outside of the zone, but he rarely misses a fastball.

At second base, Faurot is a reliable defender who often shades up the middle because he trusts his arm when he has to go to his left.

    Scouting Report

Pre-draft rankings: 110th on Baseball America, 193rd on MLB Pipeline, 51st on FanGraphs, unranked on Just Baseball

Arroyo was a standout two-way player in high school who helped Florida powerhouse Stoneman Douglas win back-to- back state championships as a junior and senior. He started his college career with Florida, but played only briefly in a limited reliever role, before hitting and pitching with Pasco-Hernando State (FL) JC in 2024 and then transferring to Virginia for his 2025 season.

Listed at 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, Arroyo is a filled out and physical left-handed hitter, first baseman and left-handed reliever. In 2025, Arroyo slashed .291/.361/.519 with 11 home runs hitting in the middle of Virginia’s lineup. He also threw 12 ⅔ innings as a starter and reliever, but struggled with his control. Arroyo’s pro future is as a hitter. He has plus raw power with top-end exit velocities that approach 113 mph and can hit towering home runs to the pull side. Arroyo’s power does come with an aggressive approach and a solid amount of swing-and-miss tendencies that lead to questions about the quality of his pure hit tool.

Arroyo is a below-average runner who fits best at first base where he is a fine defender with solid arm strength. Some scouts think he could move around enough to get a chance in a corner outfield spot.

Volini started his career at South Florida, where he largely pitched from the bullpen and missed his 2023 sophomore season due to Tommy John surgery. He transferred to Florida State for his redshirt junior campaign in 2025.

Volini is a large and filled-out left-hander with a 6-foot-4, 250-pound frame. He’s a command-over-stuff pitcher with impressive feel for a four-pitch mix. Volini offers a fastball around 90 mph that will bump 93, an upper-70s curveball, a low-80s slider and a mid-80s changeup, which was his most-used secondary offering.

    Scouting Report

Pre-draft rankings: 204th on Baseball America, 189th on MLB Pipeline, unranked on FanGraphs, 180th on Just Baseball

A product of South Florida powerhouse Stoneman Douglas, Clemente has garnered a reputation as a big, physical hard thrower. He missed his 2023 freshman season at Florida with a shoulder injury, then pitched mostly as a reliever in 2024. He opened 2025 as a starter, but ultimately returned to the bullpen. Clemente posted a 2.31 ERA over 35 innings as a reliever.

The 6-foot-3, 220- pound right-hander has a big fastball and knows it. He sat at 95 mph with the pitch and ran it up to 99 in 2025. The offering generated ample ride through the top of the zone and bowling-ball sink down, which helped him post a 45.5% ground ball rate. Clemente also mixed in a mid-80s slider with some tilt that he occasionally threw hard to give it some cutter shape. He introduced a mid-80s curveball to his repertoire in 2025, too, and drew 33% whiff and 30% chase rates with it.

Clemente will need to make considerable strides with his control to profile as a starter, but his bat-missing ability, high-octane velocity and feel for three pitches could allow him to quickly thrive in a professional bullpen.

    Scouting Report

Pre-draft rankings: 479th on Baseball America, unranked on MLB Pipeline, unranked on FanGraphs, unranked on Just Baseball

Barreras was a three-year contributor at Grand Canyon and replaced A’s sixth overall pick Jacob Wilson as the team’s starting shortstop in 2024. While Barreras is not in the same class of hitter as Wilson and also isn’t quite as big at 6-foot, 190 pounds, he fits a similar archetype as a contact merchant with special bat-to-ball skills that allow him to make contact all over the zone against all pitch types.

He recovered from a slow start in the spring of 2025 to hit .358 with nearly four times as many walks (27) as strikeouts (7). Barreras’ strikeout rate in his college career was just 7.4%. But his power is light and it’s tough to envision Barreras reaching even double-digit homers in a season without getting stronger.

Defensively, scouts believe Barreras has the tools to stick at shortstop and certainly in the dirt—he was named to the all-WAC defensive team as a freshman while splitting time between shortstop and third base.

    Scouting Report

Pre-draft rankings: unranked on Baseball America, 228th on MLB Pipeline, unranked on FanGraphs, 260th on Just Baseball

McCutcheon homered just twice in his first two seasons at Missouri State, the second of which was cut short when he broke his right arm running into an outfield fence. He concentrated on adding strength during his recovery, and that has paid off with off with 15 homers and a .358/.444/.647 junior year.

His swing decisions, contact and exit velocities are all better than average. McCutcheon employs a leg kick yet usually is on time with his quick left-handed swing. His bat speed and ability to square up balls produces solid raw power, with most of his homers traveling to his pull side. He does damage against all types of pitches and lefties as well as righties, though his tendency to hit the ball on the ground may limit him to 15 homers per year with wood bats.

While he can be slow out of the batter's box, McCutcheon has fringy to average speed once he gets going and shows some savvy on the bases. Counting summer leagues, he has played everywhere on the diamond but catcher, and he spent most of the last two seasons in left field after playing mostly second and third base as a freshman. More of a gritty than a smooth defender, he'll probably get another shot at second base in pro ball, with left field as his fallback position because he has fringy arm strength and range.
